Key Responsibilities:
As a Journeyperson Electrician, your duties will be vital to maintaining critical electrical infrastructure and ensuring code compliance:
- Electrical Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair diverse electrical systems and components in both commercial and residential environments. This includes electrical wiring, circuitry, conduit installation, raceway systems, service upgrades, and panel upgrades. Perform both rough-in and finish electrical work efficiently.
- Blueprint Interpretation & Planning: Read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings accurately to determine layout, installation procedures, and material requirements. Potentially utilize blueprint reading software for enhanced planning.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Utilize voltmeters, ohmmeters, logic controllers, and other specialized electrical testing devices to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues effectively using established troubleshooting methodologies. Address issues with circuit breakers, fuses, load centers, and distribution panels.
- Code Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and national electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC). Conduct regular safety inspections and adhere to electrical safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
- Collaboration & Project Management: Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to complete electrical projects efficiently while adhering to all safety standards and project timelines. Maintain accurate work order completion and project documentation.
- Site Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to tool and equipment management best practices.
- Minor Carpentry: Perform basic frame carpentry as needed for electrical installations.
- Customer Interaction: Interact professionally with clients, providing updates and ensuring client satisfaction on projects.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a Journeyperson Electrician with the following skills and attributes:
- Experience: Proven experience as an electrician in both commercial and residential settings is REQUIRED, demonstrating expertise in electrical installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Licensure: [REQUIRED: State Journeyperson Electrician License].
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, circuitry, load calculations, grounding, bonding, and advanced electrical safety protocols. Experience with low voltage systems or smart home integration is a plus.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with power tools and their safe operation is essential, along with expertise in using electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics accurately.
- Diagnostic Skills: Demonstrated experience working with voltmeters, ohmmeters, logic controllers, and other diagnostic tools for effective electrical troubleshooting.
- Code Compliance: Comprehensive understanding of applicable electrical codes and building regulations, with a strong commitment to code compliance and familiarity with local electrical codes and the permitting process.
- Work Ethic: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team in various project settings.
- Driving Record: Good driving record and ability to pass background checks (if company vehicle is provided).
