May 9 is Child Care Provider Appreciation Day

  About 3,000 children between the ages of six weeks and 11 years old attend licensed family child care in Anoka County. For many parents, their family child care provider has become a valued member of their extended family.

            Family child care providers work long hours providing creative, educational activities for young children, and they nurture all areas of child development in a home-like setting. These child care providers play an essential role in our community; without their support and essential care of children, parents could not balance their careers and family needs.

            Please take a few minutes to thank the child care providers in your community by letting them know how much you appreciate the essential role they play in the lives of young children.

            “Licensed child care providers in our county are essential to the development of many of our youth, and they provide an integral service for parents who need to ensure their children are well taken care of during their workdays,” said district 7 Anoka County Commissioner Mandy Meisner, who serves as the lead commissioner for the Human Services Committee. “All of us who interact with child care providers are deeply grateful for their commitment to the youth and families in our communities.”
